2017 Silver Medal Award Celebration
After receiving her MBA from Indiana University, Fay began her notable advertising career in 1978 as an account management trainee at Leo Burnett working on Pillsbury and then moving to Bozell & Jacobs on the Alberto Culver account.
In March of 1984, Ferguson joined Burrell Communications Group as an account supervisor, quickly moving up the ladder … punching a hole in the proverbial glass ceiling, managing Procter and Gamble, McDonalds USA and heading the agency’s New Business Team, becoming a Managing Partner in the process. In 2004, Fay orchestrated a management buy-out of the agency whose clients now include Toyota, Comcast/Xfinity, McDonald’s, AARP, Walmart, Hilton Worldwide, The Kellogg Foundation, National Park Foundation and Procter & Gamble, among others.
Now as business owner and Co-CEO of the nation’s leading transcultural agency, Burrell Communications Group, Fay has never lost an intense commitment to give back and serve the community she came from.
Fay organized and started Allies of Innocence to provide free mental healthcare for survivors of gun violence in Chicago. She established the first endowment scholarship fund to help students of color at Concordia College, her Alma Mater. Fay also established a Navy Supply Corps Educational Scholarship Fund in honor of her son, the late Eric Wesley Ferguson who served as a Lieutenant in The United States Navy.
Fay is very proud of initiating the Mosaic, ANA and CAF award-winning campaign “Black is Human” to bring attention to at-risk youth in Chicago’s most dangerous neighborhoods.
In 2006 Fay was selected as the Chicago Advertising Woman of the Year, among other distinguished awards, including “Advertising Working Mother of the Year, Trailblazer Mom” from Working Mother Magazine, Black Enterprise: Top Women Executives in Advertising and Marketing and she was inducted into The History Makers, for lifetime achievement. And now the CAF Silver Medal Award.
Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate Fay Ferguson, Co-CEO of Burrell Communications, as the recipient of the 2017 Silver Medal Award.
