New Modern Media: Are you down with OTT?
Contrary to popular opinion, Linear TV is not dead. There’s just a new player in the video world on the rise. Consumers viewing habits have shifted to streaming media with over the top media (OTT) subscriptions. The term “cord cutters” may sound familiar, but everybody's accessing content on OTT platforms now more than ever.
Instead of buying expensive pre-assembled cable packages, we are now able to get content for a low price a la carte on the likes skinny bundles like Sling & Philo, streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon, or free with growing AVOD platforms like Tubi and Pluto. These fragmented viewing habits are influencing traditional TV players place their content on these platforms or building their own streaming services to capture audience attention. The bottom line is consumers have more freedom and choice to watch their favorite shows across multiple devices at leisure, no matter where they are.
