2006 Advertising Woman of the Year

Passionate, proactive, leader, strategist... these are words that describe Fay Ferguson, Co-CEO of Burrell Communications.  Fay is responsible for overall account management, financial operations, human resources, information technology, office services and administration.  Burrell has experienced impressive growth under Ferguson's leadership, with new business wins from clients such as Allstate Insurance Co. and pharmaceutical/healthcare companies Zimmer, Pfizer and Abbott Laboratories.


During her 20-year career with Burrell, Ferguson has held agency leadership positions on many of the country�s top brands, including: McDonald�s, Toyota, Procter & Gamble, Allstate and General Mills. Prior to her advertising career, she was an 8th grade English teacher in Michigan City, Indiana.

 

Ferguson has received numerous awards, including being named the "Advertising Working Mother of the Year, Trailblazer Mom" award from Working Mother magazine and the Advertising Women of New York; the �Most Influential Woman Award� from the Women�s Leadership Federation; and an �Outstanding Women in Marketing Communications� award presented by Ebony magazine.

 

 

Recently, she was a panelist for the 2006 Women of Color Conference, held at Northwestern University; the keynote speaker at Wake Forest University�s Babcock Graduate School of Business� diversity weekend; and one of the keynote speakers for the Chicago Advertising Federation�s Career Day.

 

 

Ferguson serves on the Executive Board of Perspectives Charter School, an inner city Chicago school.  She is also a board member of the Chicago Advertising Federation, the American Association of Advertising Agencies� Chicago Council and the Turner/Patterson Company.

 

 

Ferguson, a native of La Porte, Indiana, Ferguson graduated magna cum laude from Concordia College in Minnesota and also earned an MBA from Indiana University.

She is especially proud of being able to successfully manage her career being a mom and helping others.  Her son, Eric, attends Embry Riddle Aeronautical University where he majors in Aeronautical Science.
