IMPORTANT INFO FOR CAREER DAY ATTENDEES:
Congratulations and thank you for registering for the CAF Career Day at the Renaissance Hotel on February 26, 2010!
Here are links to some important documents to help give you an idea of what you can expect from your experience at Career Day. Please print them out and bring them with you to reference throughout the day.
Don't forget to email your updated resume to info@chicagoadfed.org after Career Day to be included in the Student Resume book going to Career Day sponsors. Resumes will be accepted until March 15, 2010. Make sure the file name of your resume includes your name, so sponsors can tell at a glance which resume is yours!
Getting to Career Day: 1. Location: The Renaissance Hotel Chicago is located at 1 W. Wacker (on the corner of Wacker and State). An area map and driving directions are located on the Renaissance website. When you get to the hotel, take the elevators to the Grand Ballroom on the second floor.
2. Parking: The Renaissance offers valet parking. More information can be found at http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/CHISR. There is also a parking garage on Wacker Drive just west of the hotel.
3. Overnight accommodations: The CAF does not have a room block for Career Day. All students are responsible for arranging their own overnight accommodations. You may call the Renaissance Hotel directly at 312/372-7200 or book a room online on the Renaissance Hotel website. For a list of alternative hotels, we recommend using discounted websites such as www.877chicago.com or the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau Choose Chicago.
Preparing for Career Day: 1. Dress for Success! We all know how competitive the job market is. You could meet the employer of your dreams-- Do you really want to be dressed in a tank top and jeans? Be yourself but be sure to dress in Business attire!
2. Dress for cold weather! Not only does a tank top and jeans look unprofessional, it can also give you pneumonia! February in Chicago is COLD! We're talking 20 degrees in the sun! Going on the company tours may require a short walk so be ready!
3. Bring resumes! Now you're dressed professionally and are showing off your intellegence by dressing warm. When a highly impressed potential employer asks to take a copy of your resume, what could be worse than saying "Resume? We were supposed to bring resumes?" Career Day is not a Job Fair but if the opportunity arises, will you be prepared?
